How do I become licensed in Texas?
The credential required to practice school psychology in Texas is Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). This credential allows independent practice in Texas public schools after one year of licensure.
Licensure as an LSSP requires completion of a training program in school psychology approved/accredited by the American Psychological Association or the National Association of School Psychologists or a master’s degree in psychology with specified course work. Licensure also requires passage of the National School Psychology Examination at the score of 165 and passage of the Jurisprudence Examination at 90%, per Board rule 463.19.
