Assessment through Play: Process, Practice and Research

This presentation focuses on the use of Transdisciplinary Play-based Assessment-2 (Linder, 2008) as a functional, authentic approach to assessment of young children.  Agenda Items:

  • Introduction of the new format, content, and family involvement process. 
  • Video clips of children allow participants to practice observations across disciplines. 
  • Recent research on the concurrent validity of TPBA2 with the Bayley-III, the Mullen, and the Vineland is also discussed.

Expected Learner Outcomes:

  • Knowledge of the TPBA2 process and outcomes for children and families
  • Ability to take a transdisciplinary perspective when observing young children
  • Understanding of the concurrent validity and social validity of TPBA2
